Monday that's almost May

Today went by quickly.... I have to say that I love Mondays, because I am usually super jazzed from church on Sunday and extra motivated to get things done! I will admit that I also am more likely to study my scriptures and stay on track with my routine and that helps a bunch.

I am bummed out that our dryer is on the fritz, and I will find out tomorrow the severity of the problem. Hopefully, it will be an easy fix.

After school, I met Emma at the library where she finished her last 30 minutes of service for her American Citizenship Award  -- "Satch Patch". This is a great program that her elementary school sponsors for third-sixth grade. She did it last year too. If she accomplishes it all four years, she will get a special honor. So, she turned it into the office and yeah, it's done.

She also took one of her end of year math tests today and felt pretty good about it. She worried about it all weekend and Sunday night she asked Keith for a blessing. I love that she appreciates and understands the power of the priesthood.

Tonight, Tate came into the kitchen after I had come home from walking Arnold. He was supposed to be in bed, but he wanted to chat. Some of the best conversations with my kids happen when they are supposed to be in bed! Why is that????? LOL. He wanted to talk to me about a few of his friends that are saying swear words - but not really - and that it made him feel uncomfortable. For example, hell...o kitty. There are a few others but I don't remember. We talked about how we can't change other peoples choices - although he has asked one particular friend to stop saying this - but we can change our own thoughts and attitudes. I asked him what he could do to feel better (or I would put it... feel the Spirit) and he paused and thought and answered, "Say a prayer?" Yep, one good answer and then I asked if he could think of something else and he couldn't, so I mentioned, sing a song. This is one that I have used since my youth. He liked the idea and we talked about different songs he could sing or hum. What a cutie.

I am so blessed to be a part of these angels' lives!!!

In relief society on Sunday, this was mom shared a tip. I thought it was so cute. She said that there were 2 times her kids would approach her to "talk." One was after they were in bed. The other was when she sat on the couch and pretended that she had nothing better to do that be sitting there. :). So, she started scheduling time to sit and look not busy!

I love that idea Emily! I'm always looking for an excuse to sit on the couch and relax!

Cath!! I just logged on to my very old blog and clicked on yours! Wow! You post a lot more on here than on Facebook. I will try to follow you here more often. I can't believe how grown up the kids look! I miss you terribly.

Good to see you've logged on, Beth! I'm trying to post more, but I'm not entirely consistent.
